Canon Powershot S2 IS

End of the Sandy Road
Originally uploaded by Cajie.
During my recent trip to Goa, I took along a Powershot S2 as a gift for my brother. I have always recommended this camera for beginners and I thought it would be an ideal gift for him as he loves photography.

I was truly impressed with the performance of this camera and ended up using it on many occasions instead of my D70. It's 12x optical zoom with image stabilization actually works and the shutter lag is hardly noticeable.

It's a great camera for general use. I would'nt use it for night time photography (too much noise) - but for daytime, it is truly amazing.

ali,
That's not a wrangler. It's an Indian 4x4 offroading vehicle called the Maruti Gypsy.
My brother owns it and we did some heavy duty off-roading in it during my short visit to India.

Welcome back to Kuwait :D

Do you by any chance know from experience which camera has less noise: canon S2 IS or the Lumix FZ-50?

Very nice shot!

You know thats my problem, I like taking night shot when I'm on bike because I'm so mobile and I go to odd places, but I need a small compact camera.

I have the Sony DSC-H5 but its too big to take some quick pics, and my Rebel-XT is too damn big.

Do you have any recommendations for something small but really really good night shots without too much noise?
